A talk by Robert Storr and Francesca Pietropaolo.
The HENI Art Club are thrilled to announce an exclusive digital event with acclaimed curator, scholar, and art critic, Robert Storr. Art historian and curator Francesca Pietropaolo will interview Storr, whose remarkable career in the arts has included high profile positions as senior curator in the Department of Painting and Sculpture at MoMA, Artistic Director of the Venice Biennale in 2007 and Stavros Niarchos Foundation Dean of the Yale University School of Art.
Organized on the occasion of the simultaneous release of the first ebook edition of his Interviews on Art (first printed in 2017) and the publication of the concluding volume of his anthology of writings, Writings On Art 2006 – 2021 (which follows the success of the first volume Writings on Art 1980–2005), the conversation will call upon Storr’s unrivalled breadth of knowledge in the field of art, featuring insights into the artworld and stories from the many interviews he has conducted over the years. Guests will have the chance to join the conversation and ask their own questions via the live chat.
Edited by Pietropaolo, the series of these three beautifully illustrated volumes brings together the best of Storr’s interviews, criticism, reviews, essays, and articles, some of which are previously unpublished. Writings On Art 2006 – 2021 includes texts on a wide range of artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Jasper Johns, Alice Neel, Gerhard Richter, and Carrie Mae Weems. Written with his signature intellect and wit, his writings range from essays on performances of femininity in Cindy Sherman’s photographic oeuvre to dialectics of race in the work of Kara Walker.
